Blue-eared Pheasant *

 : 38 inches long

 : One of the most common pheasants in China so there is no conservation concern at the moment.

 

This large, blue-gray pheasant has a black crown, red facial feathers, long white feathers behind the eye, and crimson legs. These are very vocal birds whose sounds can carry over a mile. They use these sounds during mating season and males will use them to confront one another.
