This dark brown pheasant has a black crown and red face skin with long white feathers behind its eyes. This is the rarest species of genus Crossoptilon. Male and female brown-eared pheasants look practically identical. The best way to tell the difference is in the spurs, where the male will have larger, more rounded spurs.
